The blend : 46% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 50% Merlot, 4% Petit-Verdot Blackcurrant and black cherry on the nose. It is fine and elegant. A touch of liquorice and cardamom completes it. In the mouth, the tannins are ripe and very elegant. With aromas of black fruits and spices. The freshness is well integrated and gives a nice harmony to the wine. The tannins are velvety and enveloping.

Claire Villars Lurton was 25 when she took over the management of Châteaux Ferrière, Haut-Bages Libéral and La Gurgue. Over a number of years, she has undertaken a major rebuilding of all the wineries. La Gurgue is located on the north eastern flank of Margaux, on a beautiful plateau in Curton where there is deep gravel soil.

The vines average 30 years of age and the blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The 2017 vintage is drinking beautifully now, whilst the 2020 is beginning to show it’s class.
