Sheep Dip Whisky

Many years ago farmers in the West Country apparently used whisky instead of expensive chemical sheep dip, some even distilled their own spirit and to avoid any Excise problems stored their spirits in barrels labelled as Sheep Dip. This charming subterfuge continued into the 1980''s, when farmers were ordering hundreds of cases of this Sheep Dip whisky through farming wholesalers. They were putting it through their own business expenses as an insecticide. Unfortunately they didn''t all have a flock of sheep and were fined for tax evasion. A whisky whose distinctively full-bodied flavour is only reached through weaving together sixteen different single malt whiskies, these include older Speysides and Dalmore single malt, all aged between eight and twelve years in specially selected first-fill oak casks.

Tasting note:

Rich, golden colour with copper highlights. Soft floral notes supported by an attractive array of complex fruit flavours; Melon, pear and orange with a hint of almonds. Elegant and graceful initially, opening out to show full pure malty flavours drawn from the four distilling regions of Scotland. The main accent is of the Highlands and Speyside valleys.
