Our first, flagship and still our best-selling bitter. Wold Top Bitter is a light amber coloured, crisp clean aromatic session bitter. Home grown Barley malt and Northdown hops give an unusually full flavour and a long hoppy finish for its abv. ABV 3.7 %
A blonde continental style beer, with a soft, fruity flavour with a hint of spice. A heady mix of Wold grown Barley, Wheat and Cara malt hopped with Goldings and Styrian hops give the beer its soft, fruity flavour with a hint of spice. This is the beer to drink whilst basking in the sun on bank holidays or any days! (Beer and curry….. this is the one!). ABV 4.8 %
Wold Top Against The Grain has been declared the most beer like of all gluten free and low gluten free beers in taste tests. Made from lager malt, maize, hops and yeast, it is a premium full flavoured bitter beer with a good creamy head, refreshing bitterness and citrus aftertaste. The gluten content is certified to be well below the required codex standard of 20 ppm. ABV 4.5 %
Home grown malts with the triple hop mix of Styrian, Goldings and Cascade, create an amber beer that is both fruity and light but still has a subtle dry finish. A beer for relaxing, sunshine and those long days of summer. Enjoy with Spice and all things nice! ABV 4.4%
The ultimate catch, a refreshing golden pale ale with a fruity bitterness and lingering aftertaste. Certainly a beer to help create those “one that got away” stories! Brewed with home grown malts and hopped with the fruity Cascade and Goldings hops. ABV 4.0 %
A red beer to halt you in your tracks, giving you a warm red glow! A mellow malty flavour, from Wold grown barley, dark crystal malt and roasted barley. Hopped with Progress hops. The best beer to use for ‘beef in beer’. ABV 4.3 %
Strong and well hopped for the voyage sending IPA from the Wolds to the World. Interestingly brewed with a pale Wold grown malt base, a triple hop blend and Maize for the head retention. Such triple hopped beers need hot full flavoured foods to accompany them! ABV 6.0 %
A dark beer brewed specifically for barrel-aging, the recipe developed to hold the flavours from the casks without being overwhelmed. It’s rich, fruity and full of flavour. 12% Vol.
A complex rich dark porter with malty base. A Gluten Free beer with overtones of bitter orange and hints of coffee and chocolate
Contains 3 x 500ml Bottles of Wold Top Beers
A flavourful, hop forward pale ale with citrusy notes and fruity hits. <0.5% abv
Barrel Wave is the second of our Ebb & Flow series of barrel aged beers working in collaboration with the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery. Rather than brewing an original beer (as we did with the first barrel aged beer, Swell) for this bottling we've taken one of our most popular and well known beers, Scarborough Fair IPA, and aged it in Spirit of Yorkshire whisky casks for 8 months.
A rich dark ale, with an underlying maltiness, and a subtle fruit aroma, ideal for keeping the chill of Winter at bay. The roasted barley and pale chocolate malt give a deep red hue, the hop combination of Progress, Styrian Goldings and Cascade create bitterness with a soft spicy yet fruity edge. Try this with Yorkshire Parkin and Rich Fruit Cake.
A bright crisp beer with an amber colour and a light citrusy bitterness
Crest is the third in our Ebb and Flow series of beers aged in ex whisky casks from the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery. This time we've taken Landmark Lager and aged it in Filey Bay whisky casks for a little over 12 months to produce, Crest! The lightness of the lager, with its notes of honey and fresh herbs, takes the smooth and creamy vanilla notes from the Filey Bay Flagship casks, to create a delicious, fresh tasting beer with aromas of green apples and a gentle, warming flavour. At 7.9% this is a very easy drinking barrel aged beer, ideal for late summer evenings enjoyed with friends round the fire pit. This beer is also certified Gluten Free and is vegan friendly.
A mild style beer, dark in colour from roasted malts which give black coffee/burnt toast notes that are mellowed and sweetened by the addition of gently spiced hops. A common sight in UK gardens, the Wren is a small brown bird with a powerful voice. There's nothing mild about it! Beer number 4 in our 2023 limited edition range. Wren is a brand new beer and is the second in our 'Bird Watch' range of 6 new beers. Gluten Free & Vegan Friendly
Brewed with a proportion of waste bread, it’s a finely crafted beer with notes of apricots, honey and spices, a full taste and subtle aroma. Barm is the frothy yeast from the top of the ferment which is often added into dough to help with raising. A suitable name for a beer born of bread!
A straw coloured pale ale with pleasing notes of oranges and lemons. A light, refreshing taste. 3.6% abv. The ninth beer in our 2023 seasonal range.
After brewing Big Sky for many years in cask, we’ve now bottled it too (it’s beer number 11 in our 2023 limited edition range)! A tawny-coloured ale with a clean, hoppy finish, our gluten-free and vegan friendly Big Sky blends crisp flavours with big taste.
A smooth, well rounded traditional Yorkshire bitter. Dark amber in colour with a full flavour and balanced bitterness. Beer number 1 in our 2024 limited edition range. Falling Stone is a beer we have brewed for many years in cask, but this year we've bottled it too!
A golden pale ale, double hopped to give a fruity bitterness. A proportion of proceeds from the sale of this beer goes to the National Trails to help maintain and upkeep the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail.

Wold Top Brewery was founded in 2003 by arable farmers Tom and Gill Mellor. Based high on the Yorkshire Wolds where the hills roll down to the North Sea, ours is a family business that is run by the third and fourth generation Mellors and we pride ourselves on brewing superior quality beer from home grown barley and water that is gently filtered by the chalk of the Yorkshire Wolds and drawn from the farm's own borehole.

Our family has farmed 600 acres high on the Yorkshire Wolds for generations. With revenue from traditional income streams falling, we concluded that diversification was a necessity.

We spent 12 months researching our vision to produce Yorkshire’s best real ales and in 2003 Wold Top Brewery brewed its first ale in a converted barn. Thirteen years on, we have won several awards and are proud of our range of all year round and special edition cask and bottled beers that include Wold Top Bitter, gluten free beer Against the Grain and Golden Summer.

We use traditional methods and recipes to brew real ales with character. The character reflects the fact that the pure, chalk filtered water travels only metres from a borehole to the brewery, that the barley is exclusively Wolds grown and malted by family maltsters and that selected British grown hops impart a distinctive flavour.
